Der Forest Marble ist eine geologische Formation in England . Als Teil der Großen Oolithengruppe geht es auf die späte Bathonische Phase des Mittleren Jura zurück .
Lithologie
Die primäre Lithologie der Formation besteht typischerweise aus grünlich-grauem, unterschiedlich kalkhaltigem Silikat-Schlammstein mit linsenförmigen, kreuzgelagerten Kalksteineinheiten, die in einer Meeresumgebung abgelagert sind.

Mikrowirbeltierfauna
Obwohl die Formation fast ausschließlich marin ist, werden an mehreren Orten reichlich Überreste terrestrischer Mikrowirbeltiere gefunden, wobei der Hauptort das Kirtlington Mammal Bed (bezeichnet als 3p) im Kirtlington Quarry in der Nähe von Kirtlington , Oxfordshire, ist . Ein weiterer wichtiger Fundort ist Watton Cliff in der Nähe von Eype in Dorset .
